Pôr-do-sol na Quinta - Sunset in my farm

Pergunto-me se terá sido assim com todos aqueles que, como eu, levantaram a cabeça e olharam as estrelas com vontade de realmente as ver. Desde que me interesso por astronomia que olho de noite o firmamento com a ânsia de não perder de vista um espetáculo que está em cena hà milhares de milhões de anos. Que presunção a minha sequer imaginar, ainda que inconscientemente, que esta “peça”, praticamente eterna e imutável (pelos padrões de nós humanos), possa mudar de enredo durante o segundo em que me foi dado o privilégio de ter consciência que existo… ter consciência que faço parte do elenco desta peça chamada Cosmos. Mas a verdade é que não o posso hevitar. Tenho de olhar para cima sempre! Porque, como diria o brilhante Carl Sagan, “Em algum lugar, algo de incrível aguarda ser conhecido.”

Começando hoje, neste meu pequeno espaço deste universo virtual que é a internet, tentarei relatar o mais fielmente e descontraidamente possível o que de mais incrível o nosso Universo quiser me mostrar.  Aqui escreverei aquilo que fôr vendo e aprendendo nesta minha nova jornada até às estrelas.

I wonder if when people raise their heads and look at the stars, willing to really see them, they feel the same I feel. Since I become interested in astronomy I watch the heavens with the burning desire, and the fear of loosing a show that has been running for several billions of years. How presumptuous! How may I fear, even in an unconscious way, that this “play”, almost eternal and immutable (for human standards) may change it story during the second in which I have been given the privilege of being aware of my existence… being aware that I am an actor in this astronomic play called Cosmos. But I can’t help it. I have to look up every night… always! Because as the huge Carl Sagan once said: “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”

Starting today, in this small corner of this virtual universe called internet, I will try to report, in the most constant and relaxed way I can, the wanders, the incredible things our Universe has to show me. In here I will write the things I see and, hopefully, learn in my new journey to the stars.
