LXXVI. M42 - The Orion Nebula

M42 - Grande Nebulosa de Orion - The Great Orion Nebula

Meia hora disponível que resolvi gastar captando a Grande Nebulosa de Orion enquanto esta ainda se enconta disponível a horas decentes de gente que trabalha. Na verdade já é um pouco tarde para isso - em Março a constelação de Orionte já se encontra bastante baixa quando a noite fica escura o suficiente para permitir a fotografia de objectos ténues.
Apesar disso, e tendo em conta os problemas actuais da montagem que limitaram as exposições a 20 segundos, as cerca de 15 subs que consegui permitem já observar alguma textura desta magnífica nebulosa.  Na imagem pode ser observada ainda a Nebulosa de Mairan - M43 e, com boa vontade vislumbra-se no canto superior direito NGC1973-75-77 - nebulosa “Running Man”.
Vários pontos podem e devem ser observados em próximas sessões a fim de melhorar o resultado final.  São eles:

1. Resolver o problema dos solavancos do eixo de A.R. - Trocar os motores da montagem não foi solução. Próxima operação: alimentar a montagem com uma PSU mais capaz (fonte ATX de um PC).
2. Colimar o telescópio. Fiquei sem pilhas no colimador laser.
3. Aprimurar a focagem.

Esta é a segunda vez que fotografo M42. Na primeira vez usei a bridge Fuji S5600 em Piggy Back. Veja aqui.

With some time available to spare (just half an hour though) I spend it capturing the Great Orion Nebula while it is still available at decent hours. It is a little late for that though - in March the Orion constellation is already quite low when the night is dark enough to allow Deep Sky photography. Nevertheless, given the mount’s current problems that limited the exposures to just 20 seconds, it’s possible to observe this magnificent nebula with some detail… even with just 15 frames. In the image you can also find the De Mairan’s Nebula - M43 and, if you try hard enough, in the upper right corner, NGC1973-75-77 - the “Running Man” Nebula.

Several points can and should be observed in future sessions to improve my images:

1. Address the bumpy R.A. axis - swapping the motors was no solution. Next operation: feeding the mount with a more powerful and stable PSU (an old PC PSU).
2. Collimate the telescope. My laser collimator batteries are dead.
3. Improve the focus.
